The Urban Craft Center
Last night I took an Intro to Sewing class at The Urban Craft Center in Santa Monica. It was so fun! The class was taught by such a cool teacher and it was so informative. I’ve always been extremely intimidated by sewing machines- all the buttons and those darn bobbins! My mom bought me a sewing machine for my 16th birthday and I never once used it. After the class I feel confident in stitching and I am so excited to start on projects. Last night I went to bed thinking about all the things I could make! The studio is equipped with Janome sewing machines, which I had never heard of but they worked so well. When I came home I did a little research and found out they’ve been around for 120 years and make some of the best sewing machines in the industry. You can find them on Amazon for $300. A little pricey but from people tell me, they last forever. I recommend for anyone interested in sewing to take a class at the Urban Craft Center. I’ve already signed up for the zipper class!

This is the pillow we made in the class. I think it came out pretty darn good. I wish I took a fun fabric but I thought it was going to look horrid so I just took some scraps I had at home. Other girls brought pretty fabrics and walked away with some great throw pillows.

Here is the Janome I’m hoping to buy.
